چکیده

Abstract This study aims to employ clam powder as an environmentally acceptable sorbent capture lead(II) from aquatic media. Mussel Brachidontes variabilis “ Mytilus arabicus ” shells collected the intertidal zone of Gulf Suez for producing shellfish (SFP). Before and after lead loading, SFP was characterized using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive (EDS), diffraction (XRD). Maximum Pb(II) ion removal capacity done a function shacking duration interval, particle size, pH, Pb (II) concentration, dose, temperature, agitation rate. Numerous mathematical kinetic isothermal approaches were used equilibrium experimental data validate highest bio-sorption capabilities (in mg g -1 ). Optimal conditions determined be 90 min, 0.063 mm pH 5.5, 130 L ions in 50 mL solution, 0.05 SFP, 25 o C, 250 rpm. In this sorption process, Qasi-1 st order monolayer Langmuir simulations prominent. terms thermodynamics, capturing by spontaneous (− ΔG ), endothermic (+ ΔH highly disordered at interface phases ΔS addition, well uptake effluents wastewater various water matrices.

Brachidontes variabilis and Patella sp. as quantitative biological indicators for cadmium, lead and mercury in the Lebanese coastal waters.

The mussel, Brachidontes variabilis, and the limpet, Patella sp., were used as indicators to monitor cadmium, lead and mercury concentrations along the Lebanese coast. Studies were carried out in order to define the best strategy for assessing and minimizing the effects of size and physiological condition on the metal contents of the molluscs, and corrective models were constructed. Metal conce...

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Stabilized with Mussel-Inspired Protein and Colorimetric Sensing of Lead(II) and Copper(II) Ions

This articles reports a simple and green method for preparing uniform silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), for which self-polymerized 3,4-dihydroxy-l-phenylalanine (polyDOPA) is used as the reducing and stabilizing agent in aqueous media. The AgNPs functionalized by polyDOPA were analyzed by UV-Vis spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier transform infrared spec...

Biosorption of Lead (II) and Zinc (II) ions by pre-treated biomass of phanerochaete chrysosporium

The biosorption of heavy metals can be an effective process for the removal of such metal ions from aqueous solutions. In this study, the adsorption properties of nonliving biomass of phanerochaete chrysosporium for Pb (II) and Zn (II) were investigated by the use of batch adsorption techniques. The effects of initial metal ion concentration, initial pH, biosorbent concentration, stirring speed...
